VICTORIA NEGREIROS
Director — Screenwriter

Brazilian director and screenwriter, born in Salvador and based in São Paulo. She holds a degree in Audiovisual Studies from the University of São Paulo and also studied at Université Paris 8 – Arts, Philosophy and Aesthetics. Victoria focuses on research, writing, and directing projects that intersect queer identities and cinematic genres. She has collaborated on the development of projects for platforms such as Netflix, Star+, HBO, and Paramount, in partnership with production companies including Boutique Filmes, Cinefilm, Café Royal, Porta dos Fundos, and Chatrone Latin America. She currently works as Development Coordinator at Maria Farinha Filmes, a leading Latin American production company specializing in impact-driven entertainment for film and television. Her first short film, co-directed and co-written with Julia Fávero, “COMO RESPIRAR FORA D’ÁGUA/ HOW TO BREATHE OUT OF WATER” (2021), was screened at national and international festivals such as the Brasília Film Festival, BlackStar International Film Festival, Mostra de Tiradentes, and the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. In 2024, she premiered her short film “UMA CANDIDATA IDEAL”, shot through the Locarno Spring Academy program.

Filmography

  • “COMO RESPIRAR FORA D’ÁGUA/ HOW TO BREATHE OUT OF WATER” (2021) – Co-direction and screenwriting. The film was selected for 70 festivals and showcases around the world, including the Festival International du Court Métrage Clermont-Ferrand, BlackStar Film Festival, 54th Brasília Film Festival, 25th Tiradentes Film Festival, and the 32nd São Paulo International Short Film Festival. It received 18 awards, including Best Directing at the 29th Mix Brasil Festival, 29th Vitória Film Festival, and the 31st Cine Ceará. It also won the ABC Award for Best Cinematography, the Candango Award for Best Sound, and the CIBA Award for Best Fiction Short Film. The screenplay was a finalist for Best Short Film Screenplay at the ABRA Screenwriting Awards. It also received the Canal Brasil Award at the 54th Brasília Film Festival and was licensed by Canal Brasil, which now holds the film’s broadcasting rights in Brazil. It is also being licensed by France TV, which will hold the rights in Europe.
