Thay Mantesso began her screenwriting career as a teenager through Instituto Querô, a social-impact film project based in Santos, Brazil. She co-wrote her first feature film, Socrates (2018), which was nominated for the John Cassavetes Award at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. In 2019, she co-wrote her second feature, 7 Prisoners (2021), earning her first nomination for Best Original Screenplay at the Brazilian Academy Awards (Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro). Her portfolio also includes work on acclaimed series such as Sintonia (Netflix) and Use Your Voice (HBO), as well as several projects in various stages of development, including Corrida dos Bichos, Luminika, Escola Sem Muros (a feature film directed by Cao Hamburger), among others.
