Rosa Caldeira is a trans director and screenwriter, raised in the favelas of São Paulo, with roots in northern Minas Gerais and southern Bahia.They write and direct boundary-pushing films that have received awards at over 40 festivals worldwide, including screenings in Berlin, Locarno, Havana, Hong Kong, and the Marché du Film, among others. In 2025, their film Anba Dlo premiered in the competitive section of the 75th Berlinale. Rosa has written for series on HBO and Globoplay, and directed content for platforms such as Amazon Prime, Facebook, and Google. They are an alum of Paradiso Talents and Berlinale Talents, a member of ABRA (Brazilian Screenwriters Association), and the founder of APTA — the Association of Trans Professionals in Audiovisual Media — as well as Maloka Filmes, a community-based film production company. Rosa trained for three years at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV (EICTV) in Cuba, holds a degree in Sociology, has a background in electrical technology, and is the middle child in a family of eight siblings.
