Ric Ostrower is a seasoned audiovisual director with a career spanning major Brazilian networks such as GNT, MTV, and Globo, where he helmed iconic shows like Saia Justa and Que Marravilha! He began his career in advertising as an assistant director and, after a sabbatical year traveling through the US and Europe, joined MTV Brasil. There, he stood out as director of the VMB (MTV Video Music Brazil) for three consecutive years and directed celebrated Acústico sessions for Rita Lee, Jorge Ben Jor, and Cidade Negra. During his seven years at MTV, he created and directed a wide range of formats, including Fica Comigo, Erótica, and MTV Sports.
Ric also directed for RedeTV during its inaugural year, shot concerts for Trama Records, and restructured the show GNT Fashion. He launched and directed the first season of Saia Justa, one of GNT’s flagship talk shows. After documenting his solo travels through Asia and Oceania over three and a half years as a photographer, he moved to Rio de Janeiro at GNT’s invitation. There, he created Que Marravilha!, Globosat’s first reality show, and served as showrunner for 13 successful seasons. He also directed Cartas na Mesa, and contributed to Happy Hour and Superbonita. On Globo, he directed two seasons of Amor & Sexo.
Returning to São Paulo, Ric studied screenwriting and dramaturgy in Robert McKee’s seminars and in José Carvalho’s advanced training program. He went on to direct Olhares Brasileiros (CNN Brasil) and Cozinha Prática (GNT). He is currently developing his second scripted series while continuing to direct audiovisual content across platforms.
