Michelle Ferreira is an internationally acclaimed Brazilian actress, director, screenwriter, and playwright with thirteen staged plays to her name. A graduate of the School of Dramatic Arts at the University of São Paulo (EAD-USP), she was part of the prestigious Playwriting Nucleus at Antunes Filho’s Centro de Pesquisa Teatral for eight years. Twice a finalist for the Luso-Brazilian Playwriting Award (Reality Final, 2009; Someone Hates Us, 2011), Ferreira founded A Má Companhia Provoca, where she wrote and directed The Adults Are in the Room, earning a nomination for the Shell Award (2013). She also wrote and directed works for the comedy collective As Olívias, including Nervous Laughter and Woman, Imagine!, and adapted the novel Whiskey and Shame for the stage alongside actress Alessandra Negrini, receiving a Bibi Ferreira Award nomination for Best Author (2019). In 2024, she is touring Brazil with her latest play Bárbara, starring Marisa Orth and directed by Bruno Guida. In television, she wrote Between Heaven and Earth (TV Brasil) and co-wrote It Wasn’t My Fault (Star+) with Juliana Rosenthal, directed by Suzana Lira. Her film credits include Netflix’s Love Without Measure, starring Leandro Hassum and Juliana Paes, directed by Alê Machado. She also co-wrote the horror feature The Basement on Grito Street with Sabrina Greve, which premiered at the São Paulo International Film Festival (2023). Her recent works include The Last Interview of Marília Gabriela, featuring Marília Gabriela and Theodoro Cochrane, and the solo play Don’t Tell Anyone, directed by and starring Helga Nemetick. Ferreira also wrote the successful pitch for the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) that secured Brazil as the host country for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
