Director of the telenovela Todas As Flores, by Estúdios Globo – the first telenovela produced exclusively for a streaming platform in Brazil (Globoplay). With over 40 years of career, he directed, wrote, and produced the feature films: Lima Barreto, ao terceiro dia, a film available on Canal Brasil and Telecine. Director of the play Mãe de Santo, performed by actress Vilma Melo, the first Black actress to win a Shell Award, 2021. Director, producer, and creator of the musical theater production Leci Brandão – Na Palma Da Mão (2023). Throughout his career, we highlight some awards and nominations received: Award for participation in the Angers Film Festival/France – granted by the French Consulate in Rio de Janeiro. In 2005, he was nominated for an Emmy Award for his role in the directing team of the telenovela Sinhá Moça, TV Globo. In 2009, he received the Destaque Award from TV Globo for the direction of the telenovela Desejo Proibido. In 2013, he received the Best Film – Audience Award for the film Remoção, at the Competitive Showcase of the International Archival Film Festival, from the National Archives. In 2018, he received the Batoque Trophy – in the Competitive Showcase, Best Film – Audience Award, Arquivo em Cartaz – Festival Internacional de Cinema de Arquivo, from the National Archives, for the feature film CANDEIA. In 2024, he received the Shell Theatre Award for the direction of the play Leci Brandão – Na Palma da Mão. He is in the pre-production phase of the feature film Ponciá Vicêncio, an adaptation for the cinema of the first novel by Conceição Evaristo.
